Setting Up Grandstream Desk Phones

Click2Call can set up most Grandstream desk, cordless and conference phones for you — GRP, GXP, GXV, GHP, DP and WP models. You add the phone in the portal, point the phone at Click2Call's provisioning server, and it configures itself.

Step 1: add the phone in the portal

Open the Phones page

Log in to the portal and go to Voice → Phones → Add a new phone.

Choose the model

Set Phone Manufacturer to Grandstream and pick your model under Phone Type.

Fill in the details

Enter the phone's MAC Address (on a sticker on the back of the phone or on its box), a Description so you can recognise it, and choose the number for Account 1. Leave Transport on TLS (recommended). Set up any extra keys — see Programming Phone Keys. Click Add Phone.

Step 2: point the phone at Click2Call

Find the phone's IP address

On the phone, open the menu and look under Status or Network for its IP address.

Log in to the phone

On a computer on the same network, type that IP address into a browser and log in as admin (the default password is admin, or the one printed on the phone). Use Firefox, Edge or Safari — some GXP firmware won't let Chrome log in.

Set the provisioning server

Go to Maintenance → Upgrade and Provisioning:

The portal shows the same server address on the phone's settings page, so you can copy it from there.

Provision

Save, then click Provision at the top of the page. The phone downloads its settings and any firmware it needs. A firmware update can take several minutes and several restarts — don't unplug it.

Older GXP phones that won't provision

Older GXP phones need up-to-date firmware before they can provision, and the update has to be done in stages. Check the current firmware on the phone's Status page, then go to Maintenance → Upgrade and Provisioning, set Firmware Upgrade via to HTTP (not HTTPS) and use the path for your version:

Firmware below 1.0.7gs.securevoip.nz/107
Firmware 1.0.7gs.securevoip.nz/108
Firmware 1.0.8gs.securevoip.nz/109
Firmware 1.0.9gs.securevoip.nz

Save and restart after each step, and repeat until the phone is on the latest firmware (1.0.11 or later). Then set Firmware Upgrade via back to HTTPS and follow Step 2 above.
