Extension Numbers, Calling Groups and Caller Names
Every line on your account can have a short extension number and a name. Staff dial the extension instead of the full number, callers can enter it at your auto attendant, and the name shows on the other person's phone.

Setting extension numbers and names
- Go to Voice → Line Manager.
- In each row, set the extension number (2 to 5 digits) and the name.
- Save at the bottom of the page.
- Restart any desk phones so they show the new names.
If you use an auto attendant, plan your numbers so they're easy to say in the greeting, for example 11 to 19 for sales.
Calling groups
Each line has a calling group. Parking, call pickup, intercom and extension dialling only work between lines in the same calling group. Most small businesses keep everyone in one group. Use separate groups to keep teams or sites apart.
Billing groups
The billing group sorts call costs by team or site in your reports. It doesn't change how calls work.
Intercom
To let colleagues call a phone and have it answer on speaker, open that line's Incoming Calls → Caller ID, Call Waiting & Intercom and tick Enable Intercom Feature on this line. Others in the group then dial *85 plus the extension.
