Connecting 3CX

3CX connects to Click2Call as a Registered SIP Trunk. These steps are for 3CX version 20 and later.

Last reviewed: October 2026

Step 1: set up the trunk in the Click2Call portal

Use a separate profile if some numbers should stay on Click2Call

On Voice → Profiles, numbers on the Default profile will all route to 3CX once you change it. If any should stay on Click2Call's apps or phones, click Create New Profile and use that for 3CX.

Set the connection type and number format

Set Connection Type to Registered SIP Trunk and choose your pilot number (usually your main number). Set the number format to +E.164 Format (+CountryCode Number) — 3CX v20 expects numbers like +61370500989. Save the profile.

Set the pilot number's line password

In Voice → Line Manager, type a password into the Password box on the pilot number's row and click Save Changes.

Step 2: add the trunk in 3CX

1. Open trunk settings

Log in to the 3CX admin console and go to Voice & Chat → Add Trunk.

2. Choose a provider template

3CX v20 doesn't offer a generic trunk. Choose Australia and any provider template, then replace its server details with Click2Call's in the next step.

3. Enter the trunk details

4. Add your other numbers

On the DIDs tab, add each of your other Click2Call numbers in +E.164 format (e.g. +61370500990). Route them to extensions as you normally would in 3CX.

5. Set codec priority

On the Options tab, put G.722 first, then G.711 A-law, then G.711 U-law.

6. Pass the original caller ID on forwarded calls (recommended)

Still on Options, open Caller ID Control and set the P-Asserted-Identity Display Name to OriginatorCallerID, so forwarded calls show the original caller's number.

7. Save and check

Click Save, wait a few seconds and refresh Voice & Chat. A green icon next to the trunk means it has registered. Make a test call in and out.

If the trunk won't register

Check the Authentication ID has no + and matches Line Manager exactly, and that the password is the line password, not your portal login. For network problems see Fixing One-Way Audio and Dropped Registrations.
