Secure VoIP on Android: Background Mode and Battery
The Secure VoIP app for Android uses a notification to wake up when a call comes in. Background mode also keeps the app running all the time. It's on by default so calls arrive on as many phones as possible, but it uses more battery.

Should I turn it off?
Most recent Android phones receive calls fine without background mode. Older phones, phones with strict battery saving, and phones without Google services may miss calls when it's off.
Turning background mode on or off
- In the app, tap Settings in the bottom right.
- Open Advanced.
- Switch Background Mode on or off.
Test after turning it off
Close the app, lock your phone, and call your number from another phone. If it rings, you can leave background mode off. If it doesn't, turn it back on.
