Change Another Extension’s Settings or Call as It (*44)

Remote Extension Options let someone on one extension change another number’s settings with star codes, or make a call that shows the other number. A common use is switching the main office number to after-hours from any desk.

Allow it on the number

  1. Go to Voice → Line Manager and click the number or extension. From the Other Settings menu, choose Remote Extension Options.
  2. Tick Allow other extensions within the account and group to program settings against this line to let them change its settings.
  3. Tick Allow other extensions within the account and group to make outgoing calls from this number to let them call as it.
  4. Tick Global extension if extensions in other groups of the account should reach it too.
  5. Save.

Use it

DialDoes
*44*XX*YYRuns star code YY on number or extension XX. For example *44*23*78 turns on Do Not Disturb on extension 23.
*44*XXMakes a call from XX: you are asked for the number to dial, and the call shows XX’s caller ID.
*44*XX*YY#…Up to 5 star codes in one go, separated by #. Handy on a phone key.
Good to know: The full list of star codes is on Star Codes. To put one on a button, see Programming Phone Keys.
