Controlling Outgoing Calls: PIN Codes and Call Assignment
You can ask for a PIN before certain calls go out, so only approved people can call overseas or mobiles. On a shared phone, call assignment mode asks for the caller's extension, so each call is billed and reported against the right person.

Requiring a PIN for outgoing calls
- Go to Voice → Line Manager and click the number.
- From Outgoing Calls, choose PIN Code & Call Assignment.
- Tick Enable Authorisation PIN code for outbound calls and set a PIN Code.
- Under Prompt for authorisation PIN code, choose which calls need it. The choices are listed below.
- Save.
You can require the PIN for:
- all calls
- toll calls only (local calls go straight through)
- mobile and overseas calls
- overseas calls only
- overseas calls except Australia
- expensive overseas destinations
Call assignment on a shared phone
- Open the shared phone's number. For a PBX on a SIP trunk, use the trunk's main number.
- Choose Outgoing Calls → PIN Code & Call Assignment.
- Tick Call Assignment Mode and save.
Now, after dialling, the caller is asked for their extension. The call then goes out with that person's caller ID and is billed to them. Their extension must be on the same account and in the same calling group. If their extension has its own PIN, they're asked for it too.
One code per person
Tick Treat the extension as the PIN code during call assignment to ask for a PIN instead. Create a free extension for each person, and their extension number becomes their personal code.
