Do Not Disturb and Call Screening

Do not disturb stops your phone ringing and sends callers to voicemail, a busy tone or another number. Call screening asks callers to say their name first, so you can decide whether to take the call.

Turning on do not disturb

You can switch it on in three ways:

Choose where calls go

SettingWhat it does
Play Busy ToneCallers hear busy instead of going to voicemail
Do not Disturb Forwarding NumberSends calls to another number while DND is on
Time ScheduleTurns DND on only at certain times
Apply DND before all other featuresDND also blocks the auto attendant, queues and conferencing on this number
Also apply DND when part of a ring group or queueStops ring group and queue calls too. By default they still ring

Showing DND on colleagues' phones

When DND is on, BLF keys watching your line turn red. This only works when the time schedule is At all times.

You can use this to show forwarding too. Set a DND forwarding number instead of normal call forwarding. Your DND key then turns forwarding on and off, and colleagues see the red light while it's on.

If you set up a phone by hand, set its DND on code to *78 and off code to *79 so the light follows the button.

Screening calls

  1. Open the number and choose Incoming Calls → Call Screening.
  2. Pick who to screen: anonymous callers, all callers, forwarded calls only, overseas callers, or overseas and anonymous callers.
  3. Choose a time schedule and save.

Screened callers are asked to say their name. Your phone plays it to you, and you choose to accept or reject the call. You can also dial *34 to switch between screening anonymous callers, all callers, and off.
