Microsoft Teams Business Calling with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay
Two business numbers. One Microsoft Teams app. Business calls wherever you work, including your car.
A Brisbane business owner wants business calls kept apart from personal ones without carrying a second mobile. Here is how Click2Call could give them a local 07 number, a dedicated 04 business number and hands-free calling through Microsoft Teams, with what it would cost.
This is a worked example, not a customer story. The business is typical rather than real, the setup uses real Click2Call features, and the prices are current. There are no invented results. Last reviewed: October 2026.
The situation
Picture a Brisbane owner-operator who spends half the day on the road between clients. Their personal mobile number is on the website, the van and every quote, so customers ring it at dinner time and on weekends, and it can’t be handed over if the business grows.
They want a local Brisbane number for advertising and a separate 04 business number for calling customers, without carrying a second phone. They already use Microsoft 365 and Teams for email and meetings, and they want business calls to come through their car’s screen while driving.
How Click2Call would set it up
- A Brisbane 07 number for the website. A local Inbound Business Number goes on the website, Google profile, signage and ads. Callers see a Brisbane business, not a mobile.
- A dedicated 04 business number in Teams. The 04 number is the owner’s business line for calling out and for receiving calls. It lives in Microsoft Teams, not on a SIM card. There is no second phone, no second SIM and no mobile data plan: Teams uses whatever data or Wi-Fi the owner’s phone or computer already has.
- An auto attendant answers the 07 number. A Cloud PBX auto attendant plays a professional greeting and routes the call to the 04 business number. Business hours can send calls to voicemail, or to the AI Receptionist, after closing time.
- Microsoft Teams Direct Routing. Click2Call connects the 04 number to the owner’s Microsoft 365 tenant using Direct Routing, Microsoft’s approved way to bring your own phone carrier into Teams. Calls in and out happen inside the Teams app, with the same dial pad, contacts and call history the owner already uses for meetings and chat.
- Hands-free calls in the car. Microsoft Teams works with Apple CarPlay on iPhone and Android Auto on Android phones. Business calls ring on the car screen, and the owner answers or dials with the steering-wheel buttons, the screen or voice, subject to the vehicle, phone and Teams app versions.
- Click2Call configures it. Our team sets up the Direct Routing connection between Click2Call’s platform and the customer’s Microsoft 365 environment, assigns the 04 number to the owner in Teams, builds the auto attendant and tests calls both ways.
How calls flow
Both numbers run through one Click2Call account, and Teams is the only app the owner needs.

Why Microsoft Teams, not a separate softphone
Teams is the business calling app in this setup, not a generic SIP softphone. That matters for three reasons.
- The owner already uses Teams for meetings and chat. Business calls now sit in the same app, on the same contacts and history, on phone and computer.
- Teams is a Microsoft app with CarPlay and Android Auto support built in. Not every softphone app appears on a car screen.
- When the owner signs in on a new phone or laptop, their business number comes with them. Nothing is tied to a SIM card or a particular handset.

Important licensing information
- The Microsoft Teams Phone Standard licence is bought from Microsoft and billed by Microsoft. Click2Call does not charge for it.
- You need an eligible Microsoft 365 business plan that includes Teams. If you don’t already have one, that plan is an extra Microsoft cost on top of the estimate above.
- Microsoft’s prices are indicative and set by Microsoft. Teams Phone Standard is generally billed annually, and monthly billing costs more.
- You don’t need a Microsoft Calling Plan. Click2Call supplies the phone numbers and calls through Direct Routing.
- Usage charges apply to calls outside the included allowances.

Before you set it up
- Check that your Microsoft 365 plan includes Teams and that you can add a Teams Phone Standard licence. A personal Microsoft 365 subscription won’t work.
- Teams calls use your phone’s mobile data or Wi-Fi. A call needs about 100 kbps of steady data, so check coverage on the roads you drive most.
- Check that your car supports Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, and keep Teams and your phone up to date. Behaviour can vary by vehicle and app version.
- Keep your personal mobile number for personal calls. The 04 business number only rings in Teams.
- Try the numbers and the auto attendant during the free trial before you print the 07 number on anything.
